President Darrell
Barabash formed a Noise Committee to proactively minimize the
potential for noise complaints. David Vilbig volunteered to
chair this committee.
As most people know, David
was the mastermind behind the 2005 field realignment project. David has
also taken on the added burden of the Trophy Club field to help that
municipality establish a presence in the RC Flying Field arena. David
Vilbig's bipartisan leadership has shown to be a great asset to the
club, we are very fortunate to have a member like David to help us see
clearly when the fog sets in.
The Mandate that our President has given to the Committee is as follows
1. Make measurements and
establish a sound pressure level imit that will translate to an
acceptable noise level at the property line of the homeowners that may
be impacted by noise generated by our activities.
2. Make recommendation to the
club to set a "Not to exceed" sound pressure level that our club will
enforce to the general membership RC model population that fly at the
114th RC Aero Squadron flying field.
This means all club members will be expected to cooperate and participate completely.
The Sound committee will be the final word on the recommendations made to the club without exception.
The sound pressure level LIMIT is currently that your engine should not exceed
100dBSPL at a distance of 3m
(meter set for 'A' weighting and SLOW response)
There is a meter available - walk around your plane in a circle at a distance of 3m
if the meter shows more than 100dB this is an unacceptable amount of
noise for us to be good neighbors.
